Reproducing text or images from our publications.

While we are always pleased when the press takes note of our publications, we ask journalists and art directors to remember that our books are covered by copyright. Neither the text nor the photographs may be reproduced without our permission. Covers, on the other hand my be scanned or photographed to accompany reviews without specific written consent.

A certain laxness in the editorial policy of some periodicals prompts us to offer the firm reminder that permission to reproduce is most likely to elicit a positive response when the article in question specifically concerns one of our books or authors. While this may seem obvious, the repeated unauthorized use of images from our books to illustrate articles of general gastronomic interest has made it necessary to state this policy quite clearly.  Contractual agreements with our authors and photographers prompt us to be particularly vigilant in this regard.
