HOW TO USE THIS SITE / TERMS OF SALE

HOW TO FIND A PRODUCT

You may search for books or other products by inserting the title (even just a portion), the author’s last name or a key word in the search field that appears in the upper right hand corner of each page of the website. If your query is of a general nature (chocolate, fish, finger food, etc.), we suggest that you consult the list of thematic topics on the vertical menu in the left hand column of each page. The categories include various drop-down menus that will enable you to further refine your search. It is also possible to search for items according to their price range (see Shop-on-line in the top menu bar).

Books published by Bibliotheca Culinaria may be located in various ways: the list of thematic topics to the left includes the category Bibliotheca Culinaria Editions (a click will produce a complete list) and the Series category in the top menu bar will take you to our publications sorted by series. Bibliotheca Culinaria imprints may also be identified by the appearance of our logo next to cover image when clicking through to view detailed information. Additional features available for our books include: a “look inside” function that will allow you to explore a few pages, a recipe and, where pertinent, view a reproduction of the table of contents.

HOW TO COMPLETE AN ORDER

Purchasing is quick and easy. Each product is accompanied by an “add to cart” icon. A click will move a single copy or quantity to your virtual shopping cart. Once you have done this it is possible to continue visualizing other products by returning to the thematic categories or by using the search function that appears in the upper right hand corner of every page of the website. You may also opt to conclude your order by clicking on checkout. The steps for completing your transaction are as follows:

1) Registration (for new clients) or log-in for returning customers

2) Indication of a shipping and/or billing address

3) Selection of a payment method

4) Acceptance of the terms of use of the Bibliotheca Culinaria website

5) Recap and order confirmation

Once you have completed your purchase, you will receive an e-mail confirmation message containing an order number. It is necessary to cite this number on all correspondence and to have it at hand should you need to phone us with a question.

Should you need to interrupt navigation but wish to save the contents of your cart you may do so by clicking on the “save cart” button. Please note that this function is operative only for those who have registered or logged-in.

HOW TO REGISTER (NEW CLIENTS)

It is possible to navigate throughout the website without registering, but we suggest that you do so for various reasons: creating an account will make it possible for you to memorize items moved to your cart while browsing and it will also allow you to view your order history in the future. Additionally, registration will speed up future transactions by eliminating the necessity to re-enter your billing and shipping addresses with each new purchase.

At registration you will be asked to provide your first and last names, an e-mail address and a password of your choice. Additional information (address, payment method) will be requested only if you decide to make a purchase. Booksellers and other merchants will be asked to provide additional information to enable us to make the verifications necessary for admission to a reserved section of the website.

FORGOTTEN PASSWORD – PASSWORD MODIFICATION

It’s always a good idea to make a note of the e-mail address and password supplied to any website. Should you forget or lose your password, our website includes instructions to reacquire access. It is also possible to modify your password at any time by following the instructions supplied.

PROFILE UPDATE

To modify information supplied at the time of registration click on “Update your profile.” You will be directed to a page that will furnish a recap all of your data and will allow modifications and/or corrections. For example, if you wish to change your shipping address, you need only access the relevant fields, insert the new information and then click on “Update.”

PAYMENT METHODS

Minimum order €20,00 (twenty euros).

Book prices are listed in Euros. Books are exempt from sales tax (IVA) which is covered by the publisher at the time of their fabrication. The prices of other types of merchandise include sales tax (IVA).

For orders shipped within Italy:

Credit card (PayPal)
Pre-payment by bank draft
Pr-payment by postal draft
Coupon / gift card

For orders shipped abroad:

Payment for these orders may be made only by credit card (PayPal). Please see “Shipping charges” for additional important information..

Credit card payment

Bibliotheca Culinaria uses the PayPal system. Payments are executed through a safe platform which guarantees the security of on-line transactions. These transactions are in Euros.
Orders are validated at the moment of payment. The website will send an automatic confirmation message advising that the transaction has been completed. Failure to receive such a message is indicative of problem (an error in transcribing the card number, insufficient funds, etc.) and signifies that the order has not been executed. A second advisory message will be generated the day that the parcel is consigned to a delivery service.

Pre-payment by bank draft

Should you prefer to pre-pay by bank draft, you will find the appropriate bank details in your order confirmation message.

Please indicate your order number in the space dedicated to the reason for the transaction. Given that several days may pass before the credit appears in our account, we suggest that those clients who wish to accelerate shipment send us a copy of their bank transfer via e-mail to contabilita@bibliothecaculinaria.it or via fax at 0371-413287.

Pre-payment by postal draft

Should you prefer to pre-pay by postal draft the coordinates for the transaction are:

Bibliotheca Culinaria S.r.l.

Viale Genova 2/B

26900 Lodi (LO)

Account number: 16660201

In this case as well, please indicate your order number in the space dedicated to the reason for the transaction. Given that several days may pass before the credit appears in our account, we suggest that those clients who wish to accelerate shipment send us a copy of their bank transfer via e-mail to contabilita@bibliothecaculinaria.it or via fax at 39-0371-413287.

Coupon / Gift card

The recipient of a Bibliotheca Culinaria coupon / gift card may “spend” it by inserting its code into the proper space on the checkout form. If the order total is greater than the amount of the coupon, the user will be invited to select a payment method for the difference (credit card, bank draft, postal draft).

ORDER PROCESSING

On average, orders are shipped within 48 hours of their receipt. On the day that a parcel is consigned to a delivery service, the client will receive an advisory message. If we are unable to fill all or part of an order, a message listing the various options (reimbursement, multiple shipments, waiting to assemble all articles for a single shipment) will be dispatched. Eventual reimbursements will be made by bank transfer or to the credit card account used for payment.

DELIVERY AND SHIPPING CHARGES

Smooth delivery requires collaboration. To insure that your parcel is delivered without difficulty, please clearly indicate your street and/or apartment number (when available). The postal code is obligatory. It is necessary that the address supplied corresponds exactly to the desired place of delivery. For example, does your name appear on your apartment or condominium intercom system? If you have directed delivery to your place of business, don’t forget to indicate the company name (Paolo Rossi c/o Rossi Bakery… etc.). Do remember that what is obvious to you is not necessarily obvious to delivery personnel.

Third party delivery

The order form provides a place to indicate a delivery address that is different from your billing address. If you are normally not at home during the day, perhaps it would be a good idea to direct delivery to your workplace or to the home of a more accessible relative or friend.

Failed delivery

Should the delivery person attempt to make delivery when you are not at home, a second attempt will be made the following day. If the situation is repeated, a notice will be left in your mailbox or affixed to your doorbell or intercom system. We strongly advise that you contact the delivery or postal service as soon as possible to arrange for redelivery and avoid the parcel being returned to us. Should this occur, the cost of a second shipment will be debited.
Should delivery be impossible due to the client’s having supplied an erroneous address, the cost of a second shipment will be debited.

Delivery charges

Shipment within Italy:

At the client’s discretion: up to 2,0 kg via Italian postal service (€5,00) or via express courier (€8,00)

from 2,1 to 30 kg only by express courier (€8,00)

from 30,1 to 50 kg only by express courier (€12,00)

from 50,1 kg please contact us to make arrangements

Shipment abroad
We ship to most destinations throughout the world at the client’s expense.
Both the Italian postal service and the major express couriers have many different tariff categories based on weight, type of service (air or ground) and the country of destination. Due to the current fuel situation, these tariffs are continually fluctuating. For this reason it is impossible for us to keep the website updated with regard to foreign shipping costs. We ask that clients residing outside of Italy communicate their preference via e-mail before completing their order. We will promptly reply with a shipping quote and instructions for completing the order.
Subscribers to one of the major international courier services (FedEx, DHL, etc.) who prefer to debit shipping costs to their own accounts are requested to contact us by phone (+39-0371-412684) or via e-mail (info@bibliothecaculinaria.it) in order to make the appropriate arrangements.

ORDER DOCUMENTATION

Invoices

In Italy, the sale of printed books is not subject to sales tax (IVA) – see Article 74 of D.P.R. 633/72.

Commercial invoices are issued only upon request. Clients requiring invoices must complete the appropriate portion of the order form at checkout. For administrative reasons we cannot successively supply invoices that were not requested at the time of order placement.

Packing Slips (DDT)

A document of transport or DDT accompanies all shipments and should be examined carefully as it contains important information. It lists all of the items supplied and their prices as well as any information available regarding unshipped items. The phrase “out of print” indicates a book is no longer being supplied by its publisher and thus cannot be supplied in the future. The terms “discontinued” or “unavailable” refer to the same type of situation pertaining to other types of merchandise. Items not supplied that do not fall into these categories are kept on order and will follow. It is not necessary to re-order them.

COMPLAINTS AND RETURNS

In Italy e-commerce is governed by the same legislation that covers mail order sales. The law (D.Lgs. 15/01/92, nr. 50) requires those engaging in such commerce to provide certain guarantees that regard the right to return merchandise.

Our parcels are packed with care to avoid damage to their contents during shipment, however, should you receive a parcel that appears to be damaged, you must indicate this at the time of receipt by clearly writing “damaged parcel – received with reserve” on the accompanying delivery document. It is also essential that you advise us of the situation via e-mail commerciale@bibliothecaculinaria.it or fax +39-0371-413287. Only in these cases will it be possible for Bibliotheca Culinaria to lodge a formal complaint with the shipping company and reship your order without additional expense.

Should you receive a parcel that appears to have been opened or tampered with, you should refuse delivery, indicating the situation clearly (“arrived open” or “tampering evident”) on the delivery document. Also in this type of situation, it is also essential that you advise us via e-mail commerciale@bibliothecaculinaria.it or fax +39-0371-413287 so that we have the necessary documentation to lodge a formal complaint with the shipping company and reship your order without additional expense.
